Hair Transplantation Techniques

The Lateral Slit Technique

FUE Technique stands for Follicular Unit Extraction Technique. While the hair follicles taken from the donor area with a manual punch or micromotor are kept in a special solution by preserving their vital functions, small canals are opened with the help of lateral slits to the desired area for hair transplantation as the second step. For this reason, this technique is also called the Lateral Slit technique. If we divide this technique into 3 stages, the most important part, the second part, is the canal opening process. New canals must be opened with the right depth so that the implanted hair follicles can be placed to be fed from the vascular network under the skin. Another point that makes the canal opening process so important is if the canals are opened in the right direction. The only solution for hair that grows in the opposite direction in channels that are not opened in the right direction is to take those roots back from where they are planted. In this way, non-aesthetic errors can be seen in hair transplantation performed by non-professional teams in non-professional places. The last step in this technique is to place the follicles, kept in the solution, to the right depth into these opened canals.
Lateral Slit FUE is the most preferred and applied hair transplant method in the world. It has been tried by many people and the results are always satisfactory for the patient. It does not require stitches and the patient does not feel pain as it is performed under local anesthesia.

Sapphire FUE Technique

Basically, this technique is exactly the same as the FUE Technique and consists of the same stages. The feature of this technique is the use of a sapphire-tipped blade instead of a slit to open canals for the patient. This has benefits such as:

Its tip is not rectangular like a metal slit, it opens the canal in a cylindrical shape, which allows more roots to be planted.

The canals opened with a sapphire-tipped blade heal faster and it leaves no scar.

There is less risk of tissue damage.

DHI Technique

This technique is a two-stage technique. The first stage is the same as FUE and Sapphire FUE Techniques. The second stage that requires at least 3 people to work simultaneously is a process of placing the collected hair roots into small pens and implanting them with the help of the pens to areas where baldness is seen. It’s a quickly done process if performed by a professional team. There is canal-opening in this technique and no obligation to shave one’s hair. Only the donor area, a small part of the neck is shaved for harvesting follicles. The number of hair roots that can be planted at one session is limited. For this reason, it shall be applied in 2 sessions with patients who have advanced hair loss. Recovery time is much faster than FUE and Sapphire FUE Techniques and it leaves no scars. This technique allows more follicles to be planted on smaller areas. It is also called Pen technique or Choi technique.

2D F Technique

In this technique, the goal is to reach the maximum number of grafts in a single visit, in two consecutive days, for patients who wants to have hair transplanted with the FUE Technique or the DHI Technique but have advanced baldness and need lots of grafts. Rather than being a hair transplant technique, it’s basically dividing the time needed to transplant maximum grafts into two days. For it happen, we expect the patient to spend at least three days in Istanbul. One important matter for this procedure is to have a sufficient donor area. This technique can only be used in patients with sufficient donor areas.

Sedated Hair Transplant

In all hair transplantation techniques, the operation is performed under local anesthesia. However, in sedated hair transplantation, the operation takes place by applying sedation. It helps to spend the hair transplantation period, which can take up to 8 hours, without stress and with a low level of anxiety. While the patient does not feel any pain, he is not in a state of complete sleep like general anesthesia. Sedation allows the patient to experience a painless hair transplant process in a calmer way. This procedure should be performed by a specialist anesthesiologist in a full-fledged hospital.
